The 3amburrito.com Story.

What's up with the name - 3amburrito.com?

I would try and make a trip or two each year to visit my Grandmother and my extended family that lived in the Milwaukee. On these trips, I would occasionally go out on the town for the evening with my cousins. On several of these occasions, after a night of drinking beer and socializing, we would head to a downtown Milwaukee Mexican restaurant for a late night snack before heading home for he evening. Of course, with the late night munchies in full swing, one of the burrito selections on the menu always looked appetizing at three in the morning! We live in Austin, Texas where we consume Tex-Mex food with regularity. In a sound state at a normal eating time, I would probably never go to a "Mexican" restaurant in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. However, the choice to eat a burrito in Milwaukee has to be taken in context!

I was in Milwaukee in the fall of 2002 for my Grandmother's (Clementine Owan) funeral. Victoria and Jordan joined me on this trip to pay our respects to a great lady. One evening during this trip, I headed out with my cousins for the evening. Of course, I eventually ended up eating one of those late night burritos! On this trip, I only consumed about half of the burrito and took the rest back to the hotel room in a to go container.

This spurred a discussion the next morning with Victoria and Jordan. I was telling the tales of the evening before that culminated in eating a burrito at a "Mexican" food place in Milwaukee! At that point, I shared the thought with Victoria and Jordan that "3 a.m. Burrito" would make a cool band name. Of course, I am too old and don't have enough talent to actually form a band. I told Jordan, that, if he ever got interested in music and formed a band, they should name it "3 a.m. Burrito."

At this point, Jordan, blurted out that we should create a website and call it 3amburrito.com. After about a year of Jordan asking repeatedly, "When are we going to create 3amburrito.com?", I finally decided to go ahead and create a new family web site and use the domain name "3amburrito.com."

Hence the web site was born!
